We offer thorough preparation for the SELT B1 exam. The Home Office introduced this assessment in 2019. It covers the level of English specified by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Our private tutor knows what is required to pass the Secure English Language Test. Depending on the type of visa that you need, you can take an assessment only in speaking and listening. For some types of exams, reading and writing are required as well.

It is a requirement in the UK to pass this exam to get the following:

Which Assessment is Right for You

UK Visas and Immigration has approved the SELT. Depending on what kind of visa you are applying for, you can choose the type of assessment you need. The following certificates can be obtained:

Trinity College London offers B1 ISE I SELT (Integrated Skills in English) in four aspects of the language. Their Graded Examinations in Spoken English (GESE) use only two. This exam can be booked via their website.
LanguageCert offers International ESOL SELT B1. Like other tests, it can also be booked online. They also assess students in General and Academic SELT.
Pearson PTE consists of speaking and listening skills. It is for people who require British citizenship or indefinite leave to remain.

Some candidates would like to take an IELTS exam instead. However, the exams are not the same. If you wish to go to university in the UK or find employment, you can go for an IELTS assessment. The certificate of competence in English is accepted by universities and employers. However, if you want to apply for a visa to stay in the UK, you have to take IELTS for UKVI. It is a SELT test. It is approved by the British Home Office.

The Structure of Our SELT B1 Exam Preparation

To help you speak and understand others, the tutor offers you exercises in grammar and vocabulary. It is essential to make up correct sentences to be understood. You will have a lot of practice using what you learnt in dialogues, answering the tutor's questions and expressing your opinion. You are also expected to ask questions using the correct sentence structure.

During the lessons, you will practise describing the pictures. You will be offered to choose one or two pictures to discuss something related to you. To help you with listening tasks, the tutor will read short texts to you. You have to understand the information and then answer some questions.

During our online classes, we will be discussing a range of everyday topics. These may be travelling, everyday activities, going to the cinema, shopping, and so on. To achieve the best results, you will learn many words and phrases to communicate successfully.

To have lessons online, you must have Internet, camera and speakers. Various platforms can be used, such as Skype, Zoom and Microsoft Teams. In this way, the process becomes similar to face-to-face tuition.
