Secure English Language Test (SELT) Level B1 Lessons Online

We offer thorough preparation for the SELT B1 exam. It is a requirement to pass it to get Indefinite Leave to Remain and British Citizenship. This examination consists of two assignments - speaking and listening. Our private tutor knows what is required to pass the Secure English Language Test. SELT was introduced by Home Office in 2019. This exam is for people who want to settle in the UK and have permanent residency.

The teacher skilfully prepares online lessons using many exercises. This helps students to develop their speaking and listening skills. The tutor has been providing ESOL tuition to candidates who come to the UK for many years both in colleges and privately.

Creating a friendly and productive environment is important to achieve successful communication. Dedication and patience are a must with the online tutor. All the students who had lessons with us have successfully passed their exams.

To have lessons online, you must have Internet, a camera and speakers. Various platforms can be used, such as Skype, Zoom, Microsoft Teams and others. In this way, the process becomes similar to face-to-face tuition.

Which Assessment is Right for You

Depending on what kind of visa you are applying for, you can choose the type of assessment you need. UK Visas and Immigration has approved the SELT. It is for people who apply for Leave to Remain, British citizenship, and Tier 1, 2, and 4 visas. There are two types of Secure English Language Tests:

  • ISE (Integrated Skills in English) is for college students and adults. This is for people who would like to have a qualification incorporating four language skills. This will be beneficial for those who would like to go to universities and find skilled jobs.
  • GESE (Graded Examinations in Spoken English) is for speakers of other languages. They must take an assessment consisting of speaking and listening administered by Trinity. It is equally important for adults and young children.

Some candidates would like to take an IELTS exam others choose SELT. However, they are not the same. If you wish to go to university in the UK or find employment, you can go for an IELTS assessment. The certificate of competence in English is accepted by universities and employers. However, if you want to apply for a visa to stay in the UK, then you have to take IELTS for UKVI (which is a SELT test). It is approved by the British Home Office.

The Structure of Our SELT B1 Exam Preparation

To be able to speak and understand others, the tutor offers you exercises in grammar and vocabulary. It is essential to be able to make up correct sentences to be understood. You will have a lot of practice using what you learnt in dialogues, answering the tutor's questions and expressing your opinion. You are also expected to ask questions using the correct sentence structure.

During the lessons, you will practise describing the pictures. You will be offered to choose one or two pictures to talk about something related to you. To help you with listening tasks, the tutor is going to read short texts to you. You have to understand the information and then answer some questions.

During the lessons, we will be discussing a range of everyday topics. These may be travelling, everyday activities, going to the cinema, shopping, and so on. To achieve the best results, you will learn a lot of useful words and phrases to communicate successfully.
